Spacesaver’s mechanical safety sweep provides full aisle protection for people and objects in the open aisles of mobile storage systems by automatically stopping carriage movement upon contact with an obstacle.

Spacesaver’s mechanical sweep provides safety for users and objects on the floor of an aisle with a pressure sensitive, hinged panel running the length of each carriage at foot level.
Pressure applied at any location along the leading edge of the sweep’s surface will activate the brake that immediately stops the carriage movement. To return the system to normal operation, the object must be removed from the obstructed aisle.
Mechanical safety sweep enables mobile system users to freely and safely back carriages away from aisle obstructions simply by reversing the direction of the rotating handle. Mechanical safety sweep is always active and operational, even when the carriages are not moving. Should a user be in an aisle and activate the safety sweep, the carriages will not move. Safety sweep will automatically reset if activated and then cleared when the carriages are not moving. This automatic reset feature eliminates nuisance resetting during normal aisle usage.
Mechanical safety sweep is compatible with all Spacesaver mechanical assist carriages. Mechanical safety sweep is used two per moveable carriage.
